It is a solvent free butyl rubber based sealant which has a high solids content and is thermally applied. It also consists of some antioxidants and fungicides to reduce oxidation and fungal growth. This non-hardening gasketing sealant was designed to have the good characteristics of a butyl tape without the stringing characteristics normally found with pumpable butyls. This product is ideal for field application where low resistance to compression, high recovery and heat resistance are desirable. Q-54 was developed for the metal roofing industry for use in standing seams. If used in conjunction with snap seams, all clips and fasteners must also be sealed with Q54. Q-54 has excellent adhesion and moderate surface tack allowing the product to be repositioned after it has been applied. Permanently seals roofing panels while remaining flexible to allow for movement from wind or temperature fluctuations. The products low force to compress and high resiliency creates an excellent barrier for water, dirt and other foreign matter.
